The Inaugural Biennial General Meeting of the "New" Malaysian Hockey Federation, a result of the merger between the Malaysian Hockey Federation and the Malaysian Women's Hockey Association, was held in January 2000, and the following were elected as officers:

The former Bermuda Ladies Hockey Association and the former Bermuda Hockey Association have recently merged to become the Bermuda Hockey Federation.

The Uganda Hockey Association held its Annual General meeting in January 2000 and the following new Executive Committee was elected to hold office for the years 2000-2001:

Colorado Springs, Colo. - Lock Haven (Pa) University Director of Athletics Sharon Taylor has been elected as the next president of the U.S Field Hockey Association by the organisation's membership. Currently on the USFHA Board of Directors as the representative to the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), Taylor will serve as president-elect in 2000 before taking her place as president in 2001.

The 17th president in the 77-year history of the Association, Taylor will fill the position vacated by Jenepher Shillingford, who will step down in 2001 after serving the maximum of two terms as the Association's president.


The Deutcher Hockey Bund has recently named Uschi Schmitz as its General Secretary, responsible for the full time management of the German Association. She will be aided in this role by Sports Director, Dr. Lutz Nordmann. Ms. Schmitz, formerly a Recreational Sports Officer, replaces Dr. Frank Weingarten.


It is with great sorrow that we report that Australia's Brenda Cawood passed away on Monday, 24 January 2000. From Women's Hockey Australia come these comments: We feel great sadness, sharing with the Australian administration and its national family an enormous feeling of loss. Brenda was loved and cherished by all and by those in the national sports association with whom she worked.


The proposed dates for the XVII Commonwealth Games are 15-26 March 2006.


Congratulations to Pierre Belmer a former president of the French Hockey Federation, who was recently awarded the Knight of national Order of Merit.

Mr. Belmer was proposed for the award by Minister of Youth and Sports, Mrs Marie Goerge Buffet.
