There are now
more points for the winning
In its July meeting in Atlanta, the FIH Executive Board agreed to change the system of awarding points. ?? So from 5th August, a win is worth a little bit more -- now teams earn three points for a victory instead of two. One of the motivating factors for the new regulation, recommended by the FIH Competitions Committee, is that it makes it more attractive to play attacking hockey. It is hoped that teams will try to score more goals, get a win and put three points on the board instead of the one point a draw earns. A loss still gets no points.
