World Cups are on the way
Just a year is left before the World Cup Hockey 1998 in Utrecht, Netherlands gets underway and according to Bob Davidzon, World Cup Organising Chairman, the preparations are going according to plans. ?? The final panel for the women will be decided in August during the Women's World Cup Qualifier in Harare, Zimbabwe while the men's field was finalised during the exciting 9th Men's World Cup Qualifier in Kuala Lumpur (see Qualifier story for full details). Pools for the men's World Cup will be decided by the FIH Executive Board at its June meeting in Berlin during the erdgas 6th Women's Champions Trophy.

So far more than half of the available (5000) season tickets have already been sold or ordered. Prices for season tickets are Dfl 485 and are sold on a first-come-first-serve basis, which means better seats for the same price when ordered early.

One sideline stand of the Galgenwaard stadium will be allocated to participants, press, sponsors and their guests and accredited members of the international hockey community. The other sideline stand will be marketed for season tickets on the basis of a fixed seat for the entire tournament.

Season tickets can still be ordered BY FAX ONLY (+31-30-6564485 to World Cup Hockey 1998, c/o KNHB) For Payment, transfer should be made to the account number in the name of the "World Cup Hockey 1998" at the Rabobank in Bunnik, Netherlands. Payment should include Dfl. 485 for every ticket ordered, plus an additional transaction fee of Dfl. 50, to cover banking, handling and postage. Tickets ordered together will be allocated together.

It's Utrecht for the FIH Congress

The FIH Executive Board in March confirmed that the 1998 FIH Congress will be held on Saturday, 30th May in Utrecht in conjunction with the men's and women's World Cups. An FIH Council meeting will be held on the preceding day, while the newly-elected Council will meet on the day following the Congress. The Executive Board will also hold a meeting during the World Cups.

It was agreed to hold the Congress in conjunction with the World Cups to give delegates from around the world the opportunity to attend this major FIH competition.
