Adelaide readies for the
19th Men's Champions Trophy
?
???? The top men's teams in the world are again ready to face each other in the FIH's premier annual men's event, the Cham-pions Trophy.

Current Champions Trophy holders the Netherlands will face Korea in the opening match of the 19th men's Cham-pions Trophy, 11-19 October in the South Australia city of Adelaide. Hosts Australia take on Spain in the second match while World Cup holders Pakistan play Germany in the final match of the opening day. All the matches will be played at the Pines Hockey Stadium.

The tournament organisers re-cently announced that leading South Australian health insurer, Mutual Community, have be-come title sponsors of the event, now called the Mutual Community 19th Men's Cham-pions Trophy. Mutual Commu-nity has been a strong supporter of South Australian hockey for the past 10 years.

The Australian Broadcasting Commission - ABC - will serve as tournament host broad-casters and will be airing at least 10 hours of tournament coverage, including the final which they will broadcast live. Also confirmed to take the broadcast signal provided by the ABC are ESPN Star Sports (formerly ESPN Asia) and the Dutch station, NOS. Negotiations are currently underway with German and Korean sta-tions.

An international Umpiring forum will be held during the tournament, with presentations being made by top umpires such as Santiago Deo, Peter von Reth and Don Prior. Australian women's coach Ric Charlesworth will be on hand to give the players'/coaches' perspective. The forum, to be chaired by Graham Nash, Chairman of the FIH Umpiring Committee, will take place 13th October at 6.30 pm. Interested officials, players and members of the media are invited to attend.

The Mutual Community 19th Men's Champions Trophy now has its own Internet site which can be found at:
