FIH to commemorate its 75th Anniversary
in the land of pyramids and Pharaohs

The International Hockey Federation will officially celebrate its 75th Anniversary during a week of activities to take place 25-29 October in Alexandria, Egypt, in conjunction with the 2nd Mediterranean Cup for men.

The main highlights of the celebration will include the presentation of the FIH's strategy paper, Hockey Vision 2000 and Beyond, and two international matches to be played with some experimental Rules which are under consideration to be adopted after the Sydney Olympic Games. (Teams to be decided.) In addition there will be meetings of FIH Committees, Executive Board and Council, as well as a dinner to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the FIH, which took place on 24th January 1924.

Representatives from all member National Associations and Continental Federations are welcome to join the festivities. Invitations with further details will be distributed from the FIH office in the near future.

Other activities in conjunction with the International Olympic Committee have been planned for the Anniversary celebration. In October of this year, FIH representatives will visit the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland and present hockey memorabilia to be added to the museum's hockey display. In addition, a six-week special hockey exhibition is planned for Autumn 2000.
