Co-operative agreement signed - The FIH and SOCOG have signed the co-operative agreement governing all aspects of the staging of the hockey competition at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. The agreement was signed during the Conference of the General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF), held in October in Osaka, Japan.

Officials accommodation - Single room accommodation for all FIH umpires and officials appointed to the Olympic hockey competition has been confirmed. Officials' housing is well located between downtown Sydney and the hockey venue at Homebush. In addition, officials' daily allowance has been increased from US$40 to US$50 per day, thanks to an additional contribution by the International Olympic Committee.

Surface name confirmed - The name of the Olympic hockey surface for the Sydney Games has been confirmed by the suppliers, Balsam Pacific, as POLIGRAS.2000.

Olympic TD's named - Appointment of officials for the Sydney Games has begun. Confirmed as Technical Delegates are Eric Donegani of Canada for the men's tournament and Annabel Dillon of Singapore for the women's tournament. Appointments of technical officials and umpires are expected to be finalised shortly after completion of the Milton Keynes and Osaka Qualifying tournaments.

Athens 2004 Venue shift - The Athens organisers have recently proposed a new venue for the hockey competition during the 2004 Olympic Games. Hockey will be situated, along with four other sports, near the existing international airport. First impressions of the proposal are positive, and an FIH delegation will be visiting Athens in mid-December to view the proposed venue and gather additional information.
