Global Hockey Family runs with Year of the Youth

Within 3 months of the launch of hockey’s International Year of the Youth 2001, over 60% of the National Hockey Associations have endorsed the initiative with their own national Year of the Youth events programmes.

Seventy countries, from Argentina to Zimbabwe, have joined the project to develop their youth players. With over 500 events happening around the world, hockey nations both big and small are taking this opportunity to focus on youth. Events include Italy’s Beach Hockey Festival, the Turf Kids Carnival in Jamaica, training clinics in Bangladesh and Mini-Olympics in Uganda.

Hockey’s International Year of the Youth 2001 aims to promote youth hockey and strengthen the level of play and coaching of hockey across the world. Development visits and coaching courses are being held throughout the year, highlights also include the Global Youth Hockey Marathon (12 13 May). A full list of events with can be found at
