The International Hockey Federation (FIH) and Hockey Australia will organise a special FIH World Cup High Performance Coaching Course in conjunction with the 10th Women’s World Cup to be held in Perth, Western Australia during 24 November – 8 December 2002.

This special course is designed in such a way that potential high performance participants will be able to earn their recommendations for the future Final seminars and a limited number of invited prominent coaches will have the opportunity to earn their FIH Coach Accreditation. The course will be conducted by FIH Master Coach Frank Murray, the renowned Australian Coach, two silver medals winner and the assistant coach of Gold medallist Australian Women Team at Sydney Olympics and Mike Hamilton FIH Grade 1 Coach and an experienced high performance manager of English Hockey. Assisting with the conduct of the course will be FIH Grade 1 Coach, Miss. Pat Barwick from New Zealand. Other Master Coaches will also be invited to participate in forum discussions.

Ivan Spedding(AUS), member of FIH Development and Coaching Committee (DCC) will be the Course Director and Tayyab Ikram FIH Coaching Manager will supervise this special Course.

While this course presents the usual excellent opportunity for coaches from all over the world to gain knowledge and experience in an international exchange, it also offers coaches a special opportunity to earn recommendation to a FIH Final seminar. In addition to the honour and recognition that FIH accreditation brings to the coach it also makes them eligible to conduct courses and other assignments of the FIH and Continental Hockey Federations, including the Olympic Solidarity programmes.

FIH DCC will also extend special invitations to the outstanding and prominent coaches to contribute and share their experiences with other participants by presenting their high performance topics. This special group of invited prominent coaches will have the opportunity to earn FIH Coach accreditation and for current FIH Coaches to earn upgrading.

In recognition of the 10th Women’s World Cup that will be held at the same time, the FIH would like to see a high number of applications from women coaches participating in this specially designed course. We also invite women coaches associated with the teams participating in the world cup to be the part of this course and contribute with their vast experience in women’s hockey.
In all other respects, the course will be held in accordance with the FIH Guidelines for the Organisation of FIH Coaching Courses.
