Kuala Lumpur, Jan 20:Six Nation Invitation Hockey

Pakistan 4 ( Saqlain Mohamad 30, Shahbaz Ahmad 45, Kashif Jawad 65, Sohail

Abbas 69 )

Malaysia 1 ( Tajol Rosli Mohamad 62 )

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Jan 20 Sun : Pakistan struggled in the initial

stages but still manage to defeat hosts Malaysia 4-1 in the Six Nation

Invitational Tournament at the National Hockey Stadium today.

The home team was contend to defend with an occasional foray into the

Pakistani half when opportunity presented itself.

But Pakistan was superior in all departments and despite coming close

several times failed to find the mark.

They were awarded their first penalty corner in the 30th minute and made

full use of it to go one up.

Knowing that Malaysian keeper Roslan Jamaluddin was coming out as the first

runner, the Pakistanis let the ball pass the stopper.

Shahbaz Ahmad relayed the ball to Khasif Jawad who in turn squared it for

Saqlain Mohamad to deflect it into an empty goal.

Shahbaz made it 2-0 in the 45th minute capitalizing on a Malaysian defence

hesitation in the semi circle to send a hefty hit past Roslan.

But the Malaysian were undeterred and came out of their defensive shell.

Their efforts were rewarded when Tajol Rosli Mohammad deflected past Qasim

Mumammad in the Pakistan goal in the 62nd minute

Any hopes of a Malaysian fight back were dispelled when Pakistan scored

their third goal three minutes later through Khasif Jawad.

Sohail Abbas completed the rout scoring the fourth in the 69th minute.
