The Samsung Hockey World Cup Women, recently played in Madrid, Spain, reached extremely high television audience ratings. The final of the tournament between Netherlands and Australia was for example watched by 1.3 million people on the Dutch national television NOS, while at the end of the match more than 1.5 million sports fans were following the final. This is a market share of 33 percent, while almost ten percent of the entire Dutch population was watching the final.

The Samsung World Cup was televised on different major international channels, like Eurosport, Ten Sports, SuperSports and many national TV channels worldwide.

The official website of the International Hockey Federation (FIH), www.worldhockey.org, also scored extremely high results. While during the BDO World Cup men in Monchengladbach, Germany 150’000 visitors followed the tournament through the special micro site, almost 180’000 visitors logged on to the FIH website or the special tournament micro site during the event won by Netherlands. The FIH is running live commentary from all the matches during its major events on its website.
