Dutch Rabo Hoofdklasse Results
14 Mar 2005 09:58

Bloemendaal reduced Oranje Zwart’s lead at the top of the table with a 3-2 win over SCHC in the latest round of the Rabo Hoofdklasse in the Netherlands over the weekend. In women’s results, Amsterdam and Den Bosch surged clear with a pair of comfortable wins.

Bloemdaal’s 3-1 win was set up when all of their goals were scored in a six-minute burst midway through the first half by Nick Meijer, Tim de Bje and Luke Doerner. Only one point separates the top two teams, with a large gap opening to third-placed SCHC and a host of challengers.

In other men’s results, Amsterdam’s 4-1 win over Klein Zwitserland lifted them over their opponents into fifth position, one point behind Tilburg, who drew 1-1 with Den Bosch. Three first half penalty corner goals to Jeroen Koops were enough for Pinoke to edge HGC 4-3, despite the visitors staging a late rally through Joost van den Berg.

Amsterdam kept the perfect record intact with a 5-0 demolition of Nijmegen in the women’s competition. Only Den Bosch remains in touch with the Hoofdklasse pacesetters, with a 3-0 win over Victoria keeping the gap at five points.

The surprise of the weekend was Klein Zwitserland’s defeat of Laren. The result kept KZ in fifth position after Push proved too strong for SCHC. Of the bottom four teams, only Oranje Zwart was able to record any points; a 4-1 defeat of fellow strugglers HGC lifting them two places on the table.
