Mr. Tariq Kirmani, President Pakistan Hockey Federation has constitutionally nominated Mr. Akhtar-ul-Islam as new Secretary General. The former Olympic and World Cup Gold Medalist started his job on 1 August and was already involved in the PHF before being appointed as Secretary General. Akhtar-ul-Islam took over the job from Musarrat Ullah Khan, who recently resigned.

“I am fully conscious of the PHF responsibilities towards the FIH in making all out efforts to further strengthen the world body by making positive contribution”, Akhtar-ul-Islam stated.

“On behalf of the FIH, I extend Akhtar-ul-Islam our warmest good wishes for success and achievement,” FIH Honorary Secretary General Peter Cohan said. “It is important that Pakistan maintains its rightful place among the top hockey nations and I can assure the new PHF secretary of the fullest cooperation of the FIH.”
