Germany tops men’s ranking

Following the Samsung Hockey Champions Trophy, which concluded in Lahore, Pakistan last weekend, the Sahara WorldHockey Team Rankings are updated as follows:

New Ranking - Dec 2004 (following Samsung Hockey Champions Trophy)

1. Germany

2. Australia

3. Netherlands

4. Pakistan

5. India

6. Spain

7. Korea

8. New Zealand

9. England

10. Argentina

 

Previous Ranking: Sep 2004 (following Olympics)

1. Australia

2. Germany

3. Netherlands

4. Pakistan

5. India

6. Korea

7. Spain

8. England

9. New Zealand

10. Argentina

Australia pays the penalty of its non-participation from the Samsung Hockey Champions Trophy, dropping from 1st place to 2nd. Despite only finishing 5th in that event, Germany climbs to 1st place. Both New Zealand and Samsung Hockey Champions Trophy gold medallists Spain, improve their ranking by one place.

 

Netherlands women overtake Las Leonas

Following the BDO Hockey Champions Trophy, which took place in Rosario, Argentina in November, updated Sahara WorldHockey Team Rankings are as follows:

New Ranking (following BDO Hockey Champions Trophy)

1. Netherlands

2. Argentina

3. Australia

4. China

5. Germany

6. New Zealand

7. Korea

8. England

9. Spain

10. Japan

 

Previous Ranking: Sep 2004 (following Olympics)

Netherlands’ gold medal at the BDO Hockey Champions Trophy gains 1st spot, overtaking Las Leonas, who were bronze medallists. New Zealand gains an improvement of one position from 6th placing at the BDO Hockey Champions Trophy, at the expense of Korea.
