FIH Takes Charge of Hockey TV Rights

International Hockey Federation has decided to distribute its TV rights directly to broadcasters, for all major FIH events from 2005 onwards.
The decision ends FIH’s long-term relationship with Octagon CSI, which has acted as its exclusive distributor since 1997.
Peter Cohen, FIH Hon Secretary General commented, “We believe that we have developed sufficient expertise in-house over the last few years to maximise hockey’s exposure on television. We thank Octagon CSI for their significant contribution to international hockey’s television production and distribution strategy over the course of their long service to FIH.”
The new strategy has required a restructuring of FIH’s Marketing and Communications department, since the federation’s move to its new base in Lausanne, Switzerland. Steven Morris, formerly Marketing & Communications Manager, will head all TV and sponsorship issues, while Matthew Slade has joined FIH from Hockey Australia as Communications Manager.
