FIH Appeal Jury uphold Argentine appeal
09 Feb 2008 10:22

During the WorldHockey Olympic Qualifier, men, in Auckland, New Zealand, the Argentine team made a successful appeal against the sanction to captain Mario Almada, who was suspended for the next two world level event matches played by Argentina.

The suspension arose from an incident in Argentina’s match against Ireland on Saturday 9 February. The FIH Appeal Jury decided that there was insufficient evidence to uphold the two match suspension and therefore the player is eligible to take the field in the final match of the WorldHockey Olympic Qualifier against New Zealand on Sunday. The winner of the match will be qualified for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
