EYES: opportunity to promote Hockey
09 Mar 2004

An unusual event took place in the Hallow Grounds of Croke Park (the home of the Gaelic Athletic Association where only hurling and gaelic football is allowed to be played). The European Year of Education through Sport initiative of the Dublin Sport and Recreation Forum saw  many sports presenting themselves in Croke Park. More than 1000 primary and secondary school children from the Dublin area were given the opportunity to try their hand at hockey. Even the Minister for Sport, Culture and Tourism was challenged to have a go. Youth leaders Katie Rice and Phelie Maguire made sure it was a great showcase for Hockey. The European Year of Education through Sport offers similar opportunities to promote hockey around Europe. To find out more for opportunities to promote hockey look at your national EYES website or the EU EYES website.
