Editorial

It’s hard to believe that over a year has past since World Hockey Online was launched. And following the enormous success of the publication the FIH has made the decision to slightly revise the format and publish it monthly. Hockey fans throughout the world will no doubt be delighted to be able to keep up to date with all the major issues facing the sport as well as read the superb articles contributed by the growing pool of international journalists and correspondents. Their expert knowledge and literary skills is just one of the reasons for WHO’s success.

The next twelve months sees another busy international calendar dominated, of course, by the Rolls Royce of tournaments, the Olympics Athens, along with the two qualifying tournaments.

Athletes, officials, press and spectators all have their sights set on August when Greece hosts the XXVIII Games and we hope to be able to bring all the latest news, views and subjects dominating the headlines.

In this issue, the first of twelve in 2004, you can read about the FIH Players of the Year, and Michelangelo Rucci’s review of the BDO Champions Trophy which also took place in Sydney.

Dutch coach Marc Lammers picks out his Top Ten players of 2003, and Claire Middleton took time out to chat to two of the stars of Asian women’s hockey.

There should be plenty of other articles to satisfy readers from most parts of the globe, but if there is an issue you’d specifically like to be covered, please let me know.

May I take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support in 2003 and wish you all the best for a happy, peaceful and prosperous 2004.
