The Dominican Hockey Federation (Fedohockey) celebrated, on May 29th, the 'Global Youth Hockey Marathon' that reunited hundreds of young people of the different schools of the National District, Santo Domingo and San Cristóbal, on the field of the Sport Complex Park of the East.
This activity responds to the program of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) that contemplates to identify the popularity of this sport in the countries with federations affiliated. Also, through this initiative the FIH tries to establish quantitative integration in each federation and to obtain a parameter that determines the advance and the development of the hockey.
The president of the Dominican Hockey Federation (Fedohockey), Rafael Sosa, showed that in this 'Global Youth Hockey Marathon' they satisfactorily demonstrated the remarkable growth that has experienced the hockey in Dominican Republic.
'We have fulfilled the objective of this concentration that surrounds a character more recreational than competitive, because the interest of the FIH is to heft the growth of the human material in each federation,' Sosa said.
Sosa revealed the troubles that must face to maintain in operation the schools and the preparation of the national selection. Expressed the urgent necessity to count on the support and concrete help of the FIH for the expansion of the hockey, of special way, in the countries of little solution and little tradition in this sport.
