‘B’ Grant funded coaching seminar in Albena, Bulgaria
Sofia, 12th April 2005
The Bulgarian Hockey Federation is pleased to announce that a coaching seminar for physical education teachers and students was conducted from 8 through 10 April 2005 in Albena, Bulgaria.
The seminar became possible thank to the FIH 2004/5 “B” grant of Euro 6,000 awarded to BHF for new Junior Hockey Club clusters around key facility development. Its main aim was to train young coaches and PE teachers to work with schools and find U10/U12/U14 kids, thus serving to the development of the new clubs in the areas of Varna, Plovdiv, Haskovo, Cherven brjag, and especially around the new hockey pitch in Albena that will be ready for use in June 2005.
Six PE teachers from the above areas and five hockey students graduating the National Sports Academy in Sofia participated in the seminar. Lecturers from the NSA were provided who delivered a range of themes covering key topics such as junior players selection process, technical methods and approaches for kids training, creating, marketing and sponsorship of school hockey clubs. In addition, four practical sessions and two video and multimedia presentations were held. Trying to facilitate the teachers and young coaches’ future work, BHF has produced two practitioner-oriented learning sources focused on both youth hockey players teaching and marketing and sponsorship of school hockey clubs.
As the seminar coincided with the National Hockey Championship for U10/U12 kids, all the participants were also provided with the opportunity to watch and then to critically analyse the games. At the end of seminar the participants were congratulated by the NSA’s Rector, and were awarded BHF diplomas for “Beginners” level, “D” licence.
