Peru to get a synthetic pitch
FIH President Els van Breda visited Peru to announce the donation of a hockey turf to Peruvian Hockey.
The announcement was made to the hockey community and to public in general through the national media.
This is thanks to the Dutch hockey club Laren, who donated their old turf for us to have our first.
The turf is in perfect condition seeing that it was not over-used and it had a good maintenance. Thanks Godfried van Derhorst from the Peruvian Hockey Federation for all his work to make this possible.
Els said that this type of turf is used is different in South American countries such as Venezuela, Argentina and Chile.
The board of the Peruvian Hockey Federation is grateful to be the benefactors of this turf, however they don’t have a place to install it at the moment.
Indoor Hockey Under 17 South American Tournaments
The Argentinean Hockey Confederation organised the Indoor Hockey Under 17 South American Tournament in San Juan from the 7-10 October.
Simultaneously, the Argentinean National Indoor Hockey Seniors Tournaments were also played.
The Peruvian Under 17 Indoor Hockey team prepared for this important tournament since April. There were almost 40 days of intense training under the supervision of Sr. Flores (Coach) and Sr. Palomino (Physical Trainer).
Although 40 youth trained hard in order to get into the final team, only 12 boys and 12 girls were selected to go to Argentina and represent Peru.
At the beginning of August, the Peruvian Hockey Federation organised a five-team tournament between both men and women senior teams, the Under 25 men’s team and the Under 17 men’s and women’s teams.
The idea of this tournament was to observe the performance of all the players who will eventually represent Peru at some point in the future in a competitive, yet friendly, environment.
The next year the Indoor Hockey Under 17 South American Tournament will be staged in Lima, Peru.
