Bid documents have been distributed to national associations interested in hosting the Olympic qualification events for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

The documents were sent this week to National Associations that had already registered their interest in hosting the tournaments, with six events (three women and three men) to be held between November 2007 and April 2008 to determine the final competing teams at the Olympic Games.

The bid documents contain information concerning the FIH technical, financial, marketing, media and protocol requirements.

Closing date for the lodging of bids is Friday, 25 August, 2006, with the events to be awarded before the end of the year.

  • The tournaments are to be played in the period 1 November 2007 – 30 April 2008
  • The duration of the tournaments will be nine days
  • The format of each tournament will be the same as the Champions Trophy and Champions Challenge, with six teams playing round robin matches followed by a final and classifications (1 v 2, 3 v 4 and 5 v 6)
