Double celebration for Aussie captain
24 Mar 2006 02:43

Australian captain Brent Livermore had a double reason to celebrate today, with the Kookaburras's Commonwealth Games semi final destruction of Malaysia and the birth of his second child just hours before the match.

To cap a memorable day for the veteran midfielder scored the opening two goals of the match – both from penalty strokes – as Australia overpowered Malaysia with a clinical second half display.

Livermore’s wife Belinda was due on Sunday, the day Australia will play off for their third straight Commonwealth Games gold medal, but gave birth to their second daughter, Zoe, less than four hours before the Kookaburras took the field.
