USA Women Conclude Netherlands Tour with win
03 May 2007 07:47

Kelly Doton and April Fronzoni scored goals as the USA women's national team concluded its Netherlands training tour with a 2-0 win over the Dutch club Pinoké.

Currently training for this summer's Pan American Games, the USA women finished their Netherlands tour with a 3-2 record that included a 2-0 win over the world champion Netherlands national team. The USA also defeated the Amsterdam club team (3-1) while losing to the Netherlands national squad 3-0 and the Dutch club Den Bosch (4-2).

In addition to the goals by Doton and Fronzoni, goalkeeper Jill Dedman registered the shutout for the USA as the team outscored its Dutch opponents 9-8 during the five-game tour.

The matches continued the USA's preparations for this summer's Pan American Games, 15-29 July in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as the team will try to earn the continent's automatic berth in the 2008 Olympic Games as the Pan Am champion. The USA will enter the Pan Am competition as the No. 2 seed behind defending champion and world No. 2 ranked Argentina.

The USA will get little rest before travelling to a four-nation tournament with Canada, Chile and Argentina, 12-29 May in Santiago, Chile  and then competing at the Champions Challenge 9-17 June in Baku, Azerbaijan with China, England, Korea, New Zealand and host Azerbaijan.

The USA women will then compete in the U.S. National Championships, 17-24 June in Virginia Beach. The Pan Am Games team will be named following the National Championships.
