World Youth Hockey "Weekend" in Mexico City

The Mexico City Hockey Association (AHDF) will organize its celebrations of the FIH World Youth Hockey Day this coming Saturday October 26th.

The AHDF decided that the best way of celebrating the youth hockey day would be by organizing a 7-a-side tournament for the youth. On yesturday's meeting, the AHDF presented information on the tournament to its affiliated clubs and teams. The teams showed great interest in the program, and expressed their participation on this worldwide event with 10 to 12 youth teams. The AHDF was not expecting the participation of so many teams, so the tournament will be extended until Sunday October 27th.

The World Youth Hockey "Weekend" will be played on the turf in Mexico City located next to the 1968 Olympic Velodrome in the east of the city. The tournament format will be round-robin and there will be no ranking. All the youngsters participating in the event will receive a free hockey stick to estimulate their involvement in hockey and their stay in the sport.
