Younsters in Hong Kong gather for Youth Hockey Carnival—Event of the summer

The focus of youth events during the summer of 2003 in Hong Kong was the Youth Hockey Workshop. The Workshop composed of three sessions including a Youth Hockey Carnival.

Thirteen youths aged 14-20 were nominated from local teams that took part in the Hong Kong league games to participate in the workshop as schools break up. The first two sessions included umpire sessions, interviewing national players and publishing a hockey promotion leaflet. The youths planned the Youth Hockey Carnival, which was joined by another hundred young hockey players to conclude the event.

The Youth Hockey Carnival, held on 13th August at King’s Park Hockey Ground, had game stalls, an exhibition match with U18 girls playing U21 boys, followed by a mixed tournament. There were also drinks and video sessions for those who’d like to stay in the air-conditioning-- it was really a hot day!
