When and where?

What was the target group?
Boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 14 years old from all over the country

What was the aim of the event?
To introduce and promote hockey as a means of uniting the six races of the country in a peaceful and disciplined manner.

Description of the event
An advertisement was placed in the daily newspapers and also clubs were notified of the event inviting our target age group.

A sponsor (Munchkins children’s clothing store) provided T-shirts and snacks for the participants. GHB Vice-President, Marc King, and Treasurer, Devin Hooperco-ordinated the day’s activities.

Follow-up from the event
Based on the great positive response of the children, we intend to follow up with a children’s summer camp which will take place during the holidays from school in July – August. We intend to begin a schools programme in the September term which will involve six schools within the Georgetown, the headquarters of hockey, and two schools from rural districts.
