Teun DE NOOIJER

Country:          Netherlands
Date of Birth: 22 March 1976
Gender:          Male
Height:           184 cm
Weight:            78 kg
Position:         Midfielder

Teun de Nooijer is one of the greatest hockey players the world has ever known. Incredibly quick, skilful and an opportunistic finisher in front of goal, he made his international debut as an 18-year-old and eventually became the first male hockey player to win the FIH 'Player of the Year' award three times (2003, 2005 and 2006).

Interestingly, he rates legendary Dutch footballer Johan Cruijff as a hero of his and says he tries to imitate his great artistry on the hockey pitch. He evens wears the number 14 on his shirt that Cruijff made so famous.

Since his debut in 1994, he has won a World Cup, two Olympic gold medals and six Champions Trophy titles with the Dutch team.

De Nooijer is married to former German international hockey player and 1996 Atlanta Olympian Philippa Suxdorf, and the pair has three daughters.
