Ulrich BUBOLZ

Country:          Germany
Date of Birth:   25 February 1981
Gender:            Male
Height:             186 cm
Weight:            82 kg
Position:          Goal Keeper

Ulrich Bubolz's form over the past few years means he is now regarded as one of the world's top goalkeepers. His heroics in the 2006 World Cup semifinal penalty shoot-out against Spain allowed Germany to eventually repeat its 2002 World Cup final win over Australia and claim a second consecutive world title. However, he missed the 2007 Champions Trophy in Kuala Lumpur through injury when Germany again beat Australia in a tournament final.

Berlin born and bred, 'Bubi' made his international debut against Malaysia in 2002 and manages to combine his hockey career with his engineering studies at the Technical University of Berlin.

He is just as passionate about languages as he is about stick and gloves saves against the world's best forwards, and enjoys brushing up on his skills in both English and French in his spare time.
