A two-time FIH All Star, Janneke Schopman is an uncompromising defender who is a three-time Champions Trophy winner (2004, 2005 and 2007) with the Dutch women's team. She has also collected gold medals at two European Championships (2003 and 2005), one World Cup (2006) and a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

An engineer by trade, she debuted in 2001 against Malaysia and answers to the nickname of 'Jan-Jan'.

Schopman plays for the HC Den Bosch club in 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands and likes to relax by reading books.

She had an operation on a shoulder injury late in 2004 but was back in action early the following year.
