Gender:            Female
Height:             172 cm

Chinese defender Ma Yibo has been a cornerstone of the rapidly improving fortunes of the Chinese women's team. Having only begun playing the game in 1995 as a 15-year-old, she played in her first Champions Trophy tournament in 2001 where China finished fourth, and just one year later she was a member of the gold medal winning Chinese team at the 2002 Champions Trophy in Macau.

Ma has two Champions Trophy silver medals from 2003 and 2006 to her name and was a member of the Asian Games gold medal winning teams in Busan (2002) and Doha (2006). China finished fourth in the 2004 Athens Olympic competition, but Ma will be desperately keen for the team to get among the medals in Beijing.

She was short-listed for the FIH 'Young Player of the Year' award in 2002 and 2003, and enjoys listening to music and collecting stamps in her spare time.
