When Marilyn Agliotti made her international debut for South Africa at the 1998 World Cup in the Dutch city of Utrecht, little did she know that nine years later she would be playing for the Netherlands and named to the FIH All Star team.

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, she began playing as an 11-year-old at Fish Hoek Middle School in Cape Town. Eight years later in Sydney she recorded one of her career highlights by scoring a goal at an Olympic Games.

This year the striker seems assured of getting a chance to do the same ion Beijing for her adopted nation, the Netherlands.

Known as 'Aggs', she has studied computer engineering and enjoys snowboarding, reading, listening to music and collecting quotes. Agliotti was nominated for the 2007 FIH 'Player of the Year' award and plays for the Oranje-Zwart club in Eindhoven.
