Belgium has recorded a commanding 6-2 win over Egypt in Cairo to take control of it’s five-match series.
After visiting the Pyramids the day before, Belgium sparkled in the fourth Test with a dominant performance to take a 2-1 lead in the series
Maxime Luycx got the visitors off to a great start with a penalty corner goal in the 10thminute, which was quickly followed by goals to Jerome Truyens and John Goldberg to give Belgium a 3-0 midway through the first half.
After Egypt managed to stem the flow of goals until the half time break, the banks burst again soon after the break with Maxime Bertrand converting in the 42nd minute for a 4-0 lead.
Truyens increased Egypt’s pain 13 minutes from full time with his second before Goldberg followed suit a minute later to give the scoreboard an imposing look.
Egypt managed to snatch two late consolations – Amro El Hady and Sameh Metwaly – but it was too late for the home team who were outclassed in the contest.
The fifth and final Test is Saturday, 28 January, at 18:00 local time.
With the teams drawn in the same Pool for the BDO Hockey World Cup Qualifier in Changzhou from 12-23 April, the series winner will take a psychological edge over their opponent heading into the event in China.
