Malaysia in semifinals of Men’s Asia Cup
06 Sep 2007 07:01

Malaysia produced another scintillating display recovering from a 0-3 deficit to level at 3-3 against Pakistan in the Men’s Asia Cup on Wednesday and ensuring a place in the semi-final from Pool A.

By S. Thyagarajan

The outcome clearly came as an embarrassment to Pakistan, which is virtually out of the reckoning. Pakistan finished its program with seven points while Malaysia tops the pool with 10 points.

Pakistan will have to wait for the result of the Japan-Singapore tie tomorrow. Japan with six points looks well set to win against the weak opposition.

In Pool B, India is assured of a place, but the deadlock is between Korea and China, which played 3-3 draw today. Both have seven points. Korea’s goal difference at the moment is 25 against the 18 by China.
