Australia kicks Netherlands out of Samsung Champions Trophy final

Host Australia upset Netherlands on the last day of pool play at the Samsung Champions Trophy in Sydney, Australia. The Hockeyroos defeated the Olympic and World Champion 2-1 and will meet defending champion Argentina in Sunday’s final.

Australia needed a win to be sure of making it to the final of the most important women’s hockey tournament in 2022. A quick goal in the first half and a penalty stroke goal in the second half gave Australia, supported by almost 5’000 fans, the victory.

Australia will play against Argentina in Sunday’s final. Netherlands is facing Germany in the bronze medal match, while England and China will decide who will finish fifth.
