The Kookaburras have again escaped with a victory in a low scoring match against Canada in Canberra (2:1).
Despite producing several more scoring opportunities, the Kookaburras followed the trend of last Sunday’s 3 Nation series final match against Malaysia and were unable to make the most of their advantages.
When Kookaburra Glenn Turner scored the first goal of the match at the two minute mark it appeared as though it would be a long day for Canada. To their credit Canada absorbed the pressure well, keeping the Kookaburras to only the one goal in the first half.
Building on their momentum, Canada continued to take it up to the Kookaburras, scoring from a penalty corner opportunity at the 26 minute mark to level the match.
Determined to come away with the win, the Kookaburras lifted after half time, but despite all their good work they were still unable to score from several opportunities.
Eventually the pressure applied by the Kookaburras proved too strong, with veteran David Guest scoring a penalty corner at the 66 minute mark to give Australia a well earned win.
