Ireland men draw with South Africa
18 Dec 2007 07:12

The men’s team of Ireland drew 1-1 South Africa in the first of three matches in the four nations in Chile.

South Africa opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a drag flick from Austin Smith. Ireland didn't take long to respond when Phelie Magure tidied up on a penalty corner breakdown to find the South African net from a reverse stick shot. Ireland had plenty of chances to seal the win particularly in the final ten, but the Irish couldnt find a way through passed a strong keeper in nets for SA.
