The women’s teams of Kenya and Netherlands Antilles made major progress in the FIH World Rankings after the African Olympic Qualifier and the Pan American Games. Kenya moved for the 40th to the 22nd place, while Netherlands Antilles climbed from the 31st to the 19th position.

There were no changes at the top of the FIH Women’s World Ranking. Pan American Games winner Argentina remains second behind World Champion Netherlands. PanAm runner-up USA remains at 10th position. South Africa, winner of the African Olympic Qualifier, remains at 12th position.

For the men’s team of Argentina, the month of July was not the best one. The Argentines lost the Pan American Games final against Canada and therefore missed direct qualification for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Due to the loss, Argentina dropped one place, from 6th to 7th, in the FIH World Ranking,

South Africa remains at 12th position, while Canada advances from 15th to 14th position. Leader of the FIH Men’s World Ranking is still Germany.

The World rankings will be further updated following the respective men’s and women’s Asia Cups (September 2007), the respective men’s and women’s EuroHockey Nations Championship, Trophy and Challenge tournaments (August / September 2007) and the respective men’s and women’s Oceania Cups (September 2007).
