Great Britain men defeat Canada 17 Jan 2008 08:17
Great Britain defeated Canada for the second time in the past two days and with it, secured their place at the top of the tree in this tri-nations series.
Barry Middleton bagged a brace and Ashley Jackson and Graham Moodie added a goal apiece in this 4-1 victory.
Middleton opened the scoring just before half time as he drilled the ball into the back of the net from the top of the circle. Ranjeev Deol however leveled the score for Canada on the stroke of half time to make it 1-1 going into the break.
Jackson made no mistake from the spot just after the restart to regain Britain’s lead and Middleton and Moodie followed with further goals to give Canada no hope.
This completes Great Britain’s warm weather training in South Africa and leaves them with just Poland to face before the crucial WorldHockey Olympic Qualifiers in March.
