Hockeyroos come from behind over Black Sticks
21 May 2007 07:25

The Australia Hockeyroos have come from 2-1 down to beat the New Zealand Black Sticks in the fourth and final game of their New Zealand tour.

The win sees the Hockeyroos take out the series 3-1, a pleasing result after losing game one last Sunday.

Hope Munro scored twice for the Hockeyroos, while Emily Halliday scored from a penalty corner and Shelley Liddelow scored her first international goal for Australia.

"I was pleased with the second half performance," said national coach Frank Murray.

"New Zealand played very well today and we played very well to get back on top in the second half after going down 2-1."

Down by a goal in the 40th minute, the Hockeyroos lifted their work rate and began dominating all over the field, looking particularly dangerous in attack.

"We had numerous opportunities and managed to get a couple of them, I was happy with everyone's performance today. The win was a great way to finish off the tour.

"We tried a few different things, restructured our forward line, and it was pleasing to see Nikki Hudson back. She did well in her first match after a long lay off with her hamstring and she looked very dangerous in the circle.

The Hockeyroos' next challenge is against Japan, in Australia, with matches in Melbourne, Adelaide and Port Lincoln.
