Depleted Scots salvage draw
04 Jun 2007 13:42

Scotland and Ireland fought out a goalless draw in the third and final women’s Test Match in Dublin, Ireland, giving the Irish a 1-0 victory in the series after they’d won the first encounter 3-2 on Friday.

The third game was something of an achievement for the Scots, who were already without their contingent of Bonagrass Grove players for the series, and were further depleted by injuries to Jaime Lyon (ankle injury), Catriona Forrest (knee injury) and Emma Rochlin (ankle injury).

There were several missed chances early on for the Scots, who shot wide or were foiled by the excellent Irish keeper, while Carmin Dow also kept a blank sheet.

In the second half, Louise Carroll's on-target shot was inadvertently deflected wide early in the second half, while Sam Judge’s effort at a penalty corner was well saved by the Irish keeper, while Abi Walker in the Scottish goal also pulled off a couple of great saves.

Judge was certainly Scotland’s player of the series, having scored twice in the first match, after an experimental line-up by Coach Keith Joss had conceded a 3-0 first-half lead. Judge also scored the Scottish goal in the 1-1 draw on Saturday.
