Hendriks named Spain’s best coach
12 Jan 2006 09:16

Coach Maurits Hendriks has completed a successful year for Spanish men’s hockey after being awarded the prestigious VIII DIR Trophy.

The award is presented to the person judged to be the best coach in Spain, with Hendriks recognised after guiding his team to a highly successful 18 months that included Champions Trophy and European glory.

Spain’s most recent performance was a bronze medal at the Sahara Hockey Champions Trophy in Chennai in late 2005, a result they have a chance to improve on when they host the next edition of the tournament in Terrassa from 22-30 July this year.
