China opens women’s Asia Cup with two victories

Tournament favorite China started the women’s Asia Cup with two victories here in Hong Kong last weekend. The Chinese team defeated Malaysia 7-1 and nailed Singapore 15-0 in Pool A of the tournament.

Besides China, three other top teams kept their undefeated status. In Pool A India booked a 6-0 victory over Malaysia. In Pool B, Japan and Korea won their opening match. Japan was too strong for host Hong Kong (14-0). Korea booked a 7-0 victory over Chinese Taipei.

Results Women’s Asia Cup:

Pool A:
China – Malaysia 7-0
Singapore – Thailand 2-2
Malaysia – India 0-6
Singapore – China 0-15

Pool B:
Hong Kong – Japan 0-14
Chinese Taipei – Korea 0-7
