Melbourne to host Women’s AHL Final
27 Mar 2022 14:30

Melbourne will get its first taste of elite hockey ahead of the ABN AMRO Hockey Champions Trophy - Men, 2022 (held in Melbourne from 28 November-6 December) when the Finals Week of the Women’s Australian Hockey League is held in Melbourne starting on Monday 30 March.

With rounds one to four having taken place at a variety of venues across the country, rounds five, six and seven will all be played in Melbourne on Monday 30 March, Tuesday 31 March and Thursday 2 April respectively.

At the conclusion of round 7, final placings on the points table will be confirmed and teams will be allocated accordingly to compete in the Semi Finals which will take place on Saturday 4 April.

The winners of the two Semi Finals will then compete for the AHL Championship on Sunday April 5, while the remaining teams will face off for the remaining places.

While team success is the on the line, the AHL Finals Week also represents the last chance for each player to impress prior to national selection, with the Hockeyroos and Development squads to be announced at the conclusion of the tournament.

With the Samsung Hockey Champions Trophy - Women 2022 tournament to be held in Sydney from 11-19 July, national selection looms as a critical stepping stone ahead of what will be the biggest woman's international event on the 2022 hockey calendar.

In other Australian Hockey League news, round 4 of the men’s AHL will continue this weekend, before moving to Hobart from Monday 6-12 April for the Men’s AHL Finals Week.
