FIH releases Women’s Player of the Year nominees

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) released the nominated players for the 2007 Women’s Player of the Year and the Young Player of the Year. During the next couple of weeks, the players from the best hockey teams in the world will have their chance to vote for the best hockey player of 2007.

The Men’s Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year voting will take place during the Samsung Champions Trophy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the event that will take place from 28 November until 9 December 2007.

Last year, Minke Booij (NED) and Mi Hyun Park (KOR) won the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year title. Both athletes are nominated again this year. Also record holder Luciana Aymar (ARG), winner in 2001, 2004 and 2005 is one of the nominees.

The nominees are:

  • Peta GALLAGHER (AUS)

  • Yibo MA (CHN)

WorldHockey Young Player of the Year 2007 – born in 1984 or later

  • Madonna BLYTH (AUS)
  • Maartje GODERIE (NED)
  • Mi Hyun PARK (KOR)
  • Maike STOCKEL (GER)

The winners will be announced during a special awarding ceremony in the final weekend of the Men’s Samsung Champions Trophy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
